Pat Garcia Jr. (He/him) is a Chicano artist based in Brooklyn NY. In his practice he uses traditional and alternative photographic processes often working within tight self imposed parameters, creating meaning through a combination of process, repetition, and variation. Through these various ways of working both with and without a camera he explores themes such as cultural authenticity and contradiction, constructed memory, and the tension between shame and desire. He received his BFA from Humboldt State University and his MFA from Yale School of Art. His achievements include the Lightwork Residency in Syracuse NY, The Yale School of Art Endowment Fund, the Brooks and Suzanne Ragen Scholarship, and the Richard Benson Award.
